The 344-county is a SUSTAINABLE HARDWOOD FOREST as defined by AHMI and based on research data from the UNITED STATES FOREST SERVICE FOREST INVENTORY AND ANALYSIS that shows net annual hardwood growth rates have exceeded annual hardwood harvest levels in the AHMI territory over the past 50 years.
